Chapter 12 covers the use of contextual family therapy while working with families with children with ASD. Contextual family therapy is a systemic model that offers an effective approach to empower families and help them cope with feelings of confusion, unfairness, and frustration. In order to increase trustworthiness, therapy focuses on how relational values and ethics are transmitted across generational boundaries and acquired by members today and in future generations. The author of this chapter provides a rationale for contextual family therapy as well as how to apply contextual interventions to families with children with ASD. |
