Chapter 20 provides recommendations for clinicians on how to best start therapy when working with families with children with ASD. Specific instructions are given for how to handle intake sessions, for preparing office spaces to meet the unique behavioral needs of children with ASD, and how to guide parents to prepare the child for the first session. The authors provide exercises to help readers evaluate their environments throughout the chapter. |
