Les performances des T21 ont été testées à trois reprises (Pi initiale; P2 après 7 semaines sans intervention particulière ; P3 après 6 semaines d’activités numériques systématiques) à la fois sur les activités entraînées et à des épreuves de comparaisons de quantités symboliques ou non qui n’avaient pas été directement sollicitées. Les résultats montrent un effet bénéfique des activités comparativement à la période exempte de sollicitations. Lors du dernier test (P3), les performances ont significativement progressé dans les connaissances numériques et dans les comparaisons de quantités. Pour ces dernières, l’évolution vaut tant au niveau de la représentation symbolique — ce qui était attendu dans la mesure où elle était principalement sollicitée lors des activités — que de la représentation non symbolique. Ce résultat est discuté dans la perspective du modèle du triple code: L’intensification de la pratique pourrait avoir consolidé les relations entre la représentation analogique, attestée par l’effet de distance à chacune des passations, et la représentation symbolique rendue plus précise grâce à l’entraînement.
