In this paper she describes an intervention she devised, based on the literature, to enhance their self-awareness and understanding. She held twice-weekly sessions over a ten-week period with four 11-year-old students. Her focus was on developing their understanding of autism and how it affected them as individuals. many accounts from adults with ASD have shown how knowing their diagnosis has had positive effects in raising their self-confidence and in increasing their ability to create strategies which enable them to successfully manage different aspects of their lives.
