This chapter outlines the research on the efficacy of EMDR in the wider population and with autistic populations. It uses an ecological model to understand trauma and autistic. It suggests that therapists need to explore a full range of adverse experiences when assessing, formulating, and planning interventions. It uses a case study to illustrate the use of EMDR and to demonstrate some of the adaptations used. It emphasizes the importance of getting alongside the person and finding meaningful goals for them before starting EMDR.
