In this paper, she describes the wearing of coloured wristbands by staff, and by children and adults on the autism spectrum and/or their parents to signal the mood of the person they are working or living with or to show the individual that s/he is doing well or as asked. Examples of their use with both children and adults on the autism spectrum are given at school and within family activities. Similar strategies are reported in the literature using colour to indicate the nature or intensity of emotions but here the idea of using wristbands is an interesting addition.
