An Animated Introduction to Asperger Syndrome / BIOMATION
Titre : An Animated Introduction to Asperger Syndrome Type de document : Vidéo Auteurs : BIOMATION, Auteur Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2010 Importance : 30 mn Format : 13,5cm x 19cm x 1,5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84905-134-7 Note générale : DVD Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-M ASP-M - Asperger - Vidéos Résumé : Living with Asperger's Syndrome can be difficult, and explaining it to others can often seem more of a challenge than coping with AS itself. This short, simple and accessible film explains through a series of lively animations what AS is, what it feels like and how it can be helped, in a way that is both informative and easy to understand.
Created by children in conjunction with professional animators, this highly entertaining film concisely summarises the basics of AS, enabling viewers of all ages to gain a real insight into the condition in less than half an hour. Covering everything from common talents of those with AS to skills and activities they might find more difficult, the film looks at life as an Aspie from a variety of different perspectives. Using a winning combination of humour and frank discussion to explore AS, the DVD comprises a main feature film, which is complemented by an array of vox pops, interviews, slideshows, and other additional material, documenting how the film was made and further exploring what AS means to different people.
This insightful and innovative DVD will be of interest to everyone wishing to learn about AS, from children in schools, to families of those with the disorder and professionals working alongside them. It is an ideal first step towards understanding Asperger's Syndrome.
Biomation is a pioneering science and youth arts project based in York, UK. It involves artists and clinicians working with children and young people at North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust to explore relevant health issues. Biomation uses animation, digital media, sound and creative writing to produce short films, animation, stories and music. Young people are given freedom to develop and produce their own ideas and express themselves supported by the Biomation team. The project is unique within the United Kingdom, and is funded jointly by the Wellcome Trust, Arts Action York and by York Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust.

Titre : Being Bullied : Strategies and Solutions for People with Asperger's Syndrome Type de document : Vidéo Auteurs : Nick DUBIN, Auteur Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2006 Importance : 30mn Présentation : DVD Format : 13,5cm x 19cm x 1,4cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-843-6 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-M ASP-M - Asperger - Vidéos Résumé : Bullying is a serious problem in schools and children on the autism spectrum are particularly at risk of being victimized if they display "different" behavior, such as not understanding rules, having bad handwriting or flapping their hands.
Being Bullied describes the various types of peer abuse - taunting, nicknames, damaging property, stealing, and cyber bullying - and the devastating consequences, such as poor self-esteem, low academic achievement, depression, or even suicide.
Narrated by Nick Dubin and featuring footage of his own childhood that illustrates behaviors that made him an easy target for bullies, the film also includes the stories of three individuals with Asperger's Syndrome who talk about their experiences of being bullied.
The DVD outlines practical strategies for parents, professionals, schools, and individuals being bullied on how to prevent bullying. It stresses the importance of peer intervention, empathetic teachers, and verbal self-defense and shows how lack of teacher support, condemning of "tale telling," or even blaming the victim reinforces bullying.
This DVD offers children and young people who are being bullied a chance to see that they are not alone, and will be a valued source of advice for parents and professionals.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=298 Being Bullied : Strategies and Solutions for People with Asperger's Syndrome [Vidéo] / Nick DUBIN, Auteur . - Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2006 . - 30mn : DVD ; 13,5cm x 19cm x 1,4cm.
