Titre : Removal of negative feedback enhances WCST performance for individuals with ASD Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Jaclyn BROADBENT, Auteur ; Mark A. STOKES, Auteur Article en page(s) : p.785-792 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Autism Asperger's syndrome Learning Perseveration WCST Feedback Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : Negative feedback was explored as a potential mechanism that may exacerbate perseverative behaviours in individuals with Asperger's syndrome (AS). The current study compared 50 individuals with AS and 50 typically developing (TD) individuals for their abilities to successfully complete the Wisconsin Card Sorting Task (WCST) in the presence or absence of negative feedback. The results revealed that negative feedback led to perseveration in individuals with AS. When negative feedback was removed from the WCST, performance by individuals with AS was enhanced, and was no different to that of the TD individuals under the same conditions. These results suggest negative feedback may impair learning in persons with AS, and prevent the development of more effective strategies in many life domains. Titre : Validation of Autism Spectrum Quotient Adult Version in an Australian Sample Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Jaclyn BROADBENT, Auteur ; I. GALIC, Auteur ; Mark A. STOKES, Auteur Année de publication : 2013 Article en page(s) : 7 p. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : The Autism Spectrum Quotient is used to assess autistic spectrum traits in intellectually competent adults in both the general population and the autism spectrum community. While the autism spectrum Quotient has been validated in several different cultures, to date no study has assessed the psychometrics of the Autism Spectrum Quotient on an Australian population. The purpose of this study was to assess the psychometrics of the autism spectrum Quotient in an Australian sample of both typically developing individuals (
) and individuals with autism spectrum disorder (
). The results revealed that the internal consistency and the test-retest reliability were satisfactory; individuals with autism spectrum disorder scored higher on total Autism Spectrum Quotient score and its subscales than typically developing individuals; however, gender differences were not apparent on total score. Possible cultural differences may explain some of the psychometric variations found. The results of this analysis revealed that the Autism Spectrum Quotient was a reliable instrument for investigating variation in autistic symptomology in both typically developing and Autism Spectrum Disorders populations within an Australian population.En ligne : http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/984205 Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=201
