Treatment of Multiply Controlled Problem Behavior With Procedural Variations of Differential Reinforcement / Pamela L. NEIDERT in Exceptionality - A Special Education Journal, 13-1 (2005)
[article]
Titre : Treatment of Multiply Controlled Problem Behavior With Procedural Variations of Differential Reinforcement Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Pamela L. NEIDERT, Auteur ; Brian A. IWATA, Auteur ; Claudia L. DOZIER, Auteur Année de publication : 2008 Article en page(s) : p.45-53 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : APP-A APP-A - ABA - FBA - Approches Comportementales Résumé : We describe the assessment and treatment of 2 children with autism spectrum disorder whose problem behaviors (self-injury, aggression, and disruption) were multiply controlled. Results of functional analyses indicated that the children's problem behaviors were maintained by both positive reinforcement (attention) and negative reinforcement (escape from task demands). Subsequently, procedural variations of differential reinforcement and extinction were implemented in different contexts (attention and demand) and were effective in reducing problem behavior, increasing appropriate communication, and increasing compliance. "To Miss Molly, before you started with an ABA program, we couldn't sing to you , we couldn't talk too loud, or even play music. Now you are in the drama club, dance classes, and on stage singing at the school talent show!!! I'm so proud of you." --Mother of Molly Martin, featured in Chapter 4
Triumphs in Early Autism Treatment offers a wealth of insight and hope to both parents and clinicians. This book documents the latest research that shows that children who receive Applied Behavioral Analysis treatment consistently progress in skill development.
This groundbreaking treatment has allowed numerous children to reach the "best outcome status," a level of normal intellectual and educational functioning. In essence, they become indistinguishable from their peers in everyday life. A must-read for parents and clinicians, this book is the first to document "best outcome" case studies using exclusively ABA treatment.
Key Features:
- First-hand accounts of the intellectual and behavioral progress of seven autistic children, written in a narrative style by the ABA professionals who conducted the consultations
- Contributors include Audrey Gifford, who is both a professional Behavioral Analyst and a parent of an autistic child who received ABA treatment
- Overview of autism research prior to ABA and an introduction to the development of the method
- Analysis of ABA treatment demonstrating why ABA is the most effective of all treatment methodsPermalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=685 Triumphs in Early Autism Treatment [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Ennio CIPANI, Directeur de publication . - Berlin [Allemagne] : Springer, 2008 . - 252 p. ; 23,5cm x 15,8cm x 1,7cm.

Titre : Understanding Applied Behavior Analysis : An Introduction to ABA for Parents, Teachers, and other Professionals Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Albert J. KEARNEY, Auteur Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2007 Collection : JKP Essentials Series Importance : 120 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-860-3 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : APP-A APP-A - ABA - FBA - Approches Comportementales Résumé : Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is based on the premise that behavior can be influenced by changes in environment and by the reinforcing consequences of that behavior. This introductory guide to ABA demystifies the basic terminology, the underlying principles, and commonly-used procedures of ABA using accessible, everyday language.
Albert J. Kearney explains the kinds of learning and reinforcement processes that form the basis of ABA programs. Having covered these essential principles, he describes how the science of behavior analysis can be effectively applied to real life behavior problems. He looks at how behavior is assessed and various intervention techniques that are often employed with children who have autism and other special needs. Having laid these essential foundations, Kearney touches on more advanced topics: the applications of ABA in behavioral education, such as precision teaching and programmed instruction.
Clear, accessible, and with a structure that is easy-to-follow, this book is an essential introduction to the discipline of ABA and its applications for parents and professionals.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=491 Understanding Applied Behavior Analysis : An Introduction to ABA for Parents, Teachers, and other Professionals [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Albert J.
