The parents were responsible for daily therapy, supervised by physiotherapists and occupational therapists. A questionnaire sent to all the parents showed that in 26 of the 39 families who responded the child was receiving daily therapy. Both parents took part in all but three cases, but eight families reported difficulties with the training. The authors conclude that the parents were not overstrained by their high degree of involvement, provided there was close supervision and adequate economic and emotional support. Titre : Somnambulism in children with Tourette syndrome Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Gabor BARABAS, Auteur ; Wendy S. MATTHEWS, Auteur ; Michael FERRARI, Auteur Année de publication : 1984 Article en page(s) : p.457-460 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : A total of 171 children, 57 with Tourette syndrome, 57 with learning disabilities and the rest with seizure disorders, were studied to discover the incidence of somnambulism. Of the 13 identified sleepwalkers, 10 had Tourette syndrome. It is argued that this may be due to a disturbance in serotonin metabolism.
