The KIDSCREEN approach has tackled the challenges of international paediatric QoL research by providing measures that are applicable for children and adolescents as well as their parents and that can be used to monitor and evaluate health-related QoL in public-health surveys, in clinical studies, and in research projects.
The generic KIDSCREEN questionnaires were developed in the context of a European cross-cultural representative health survey in order to be able to compare health-related QoL across different countries and in order to be able to monitor the health status of children and adolescents. The KIDSCREEN group used a simultaneous approach to develop its cross-cultural instrument, which ensures the cross-cultural applicability of the KIDSCREEN measures, making them both conceptually and linguistically appropriate for use in many different countries. The current handbook describes all relevant user information necessary for applying the KIDSCREEN questionnaires, e.g. psychometrics, norm data for group and individual comparisons, and instructions on how to score the instrument and how to interpret the results. Titre : The Subthreshold Autism Trait Questionnaire (SATQ): Development of a Brief Self-Report Measure of Subthreshold Autism Traits Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Stephen M. KANNE, Auteur ; Jennifer WANG, Auteur ; Shawn E. CHRIST, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p.769-780 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Autism Broader Autism Phenotype AQ BAPQ Subthreshold Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : The current study was motivated by a need for a self-report questionnaire that assesses a broad range of subthreshold autism traits, is brief and easily administered, and is relevant to the general population. An initial item pool was administered to 1,709 students. Structural validity analysis resulted in a 24-item questionnaire termed the Subthreshold Autism Trait Questionnaire (SATQ; Cronbach’s alpha coefficient = .73, test–retest reliability = .79). An exploratory factor analysis suggested 5 factors. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated the 5 factor solution was an adequate fit and outperformed two other models. The SATQ successfully differentiated between an ASD and student group and demonstrated convergent validity with other ASD measures. Thus, the current study introduces and provides initial psychometric support for the SATQ. Titre : Toddler autism screening questionnaire: Development and potential clinical validity Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Wen-Che TSAI, Auteur ; Wei-Tsuen SOONG, Auteur ; Yea-Ing Lotus SHYU, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p.340-349 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Autistic disorder pre-school children psychometrics questionnaires screening Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : No feasible screening instrument is available for early detection of children with autism in Taiwan. The existing instruments may not be appropriate for use in Taiwan due to different health care systems and child-rearing cultures. The purpose of this study was to develop and test a screening questionnaire for generic autism. The initial 18-item screening questionnaire was developed by a child psychiatrist using face-to-face interviews with 10 families of children with autism and then tested on a sample of families of 18 children with autism and of 59 typically developing children. Of these 18 items, 15 had fair or better item discrimination (kappa >0.20) and were selected for the revised screening questionnaire. In the revised questionnaire, cutoff scores of 5 and 6 offered 100% sensitivity and 96.5% specificity, with the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.983. The revised screening instrument has high sensitivity and specificity, making it potentially useful for screening Taiwanese children at risk for autism. This instrument should be further tested in a population-based study.
