[article]
Titre : Utility of the Social Communication Questionnaire-Current and Social Responsiveness Scale as Teacher-Report Screening Tools for Autism Spectrum Disorders Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : G. Thomas Jr. SCHANDING, Auteur ; Kerri P. NOWELL, Auteur ; Robin P. GOIN-KOCHEL, Auteur Année de publication : 2012 Article en page(s) : p.1705-1716 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Autism spectrum disorders Asperger’s Syndrome PDD-NOS Screening Teachers SCQ – SRS Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : Limited research exists regarding the role of teachers in screening for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The current study examined the use of the Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) and Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS) as completed by parents and teachers about school-age children from the Simons Simplex Collection. Using the recommended cutoff scores in the manuals and extant literature, the teacher-completed SCQ and SRS yielded lower sensitivity and specificity values than would be desirable; however, lowering the cutoff scores on both instruments improved sensitivity and specificity to more adequate levels for screening purposes. Using the adjusted cutoff scores, the SRS teacher form appears to be a slightly better screener than the SCQ. Implications and limitations are discussed, as well as areas for future research. Titre : Your Special Student : A Book for Educators of Children Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Josie SANTOMAURO, Auteur ; Margaret-Anne CARTER, Auteur ; Carla MARINO, Illustrateur Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2009 Collection : Asperger Syndrome: After the Diagnosis Importance : 96 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 21,6cm x 13,8cm x 1cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-660-9 Note générale : Webogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-K ASP-K - Asperger - Scolarité Résumé : If one of your pupils has Asperger Syndrome (AS) you might have noticed that some of their behaviour is a bit different to other students: that they become stressed when faced with change in situations or routines. Children with AS are visual thinkers and learners, and they do not cope well with verbal instructions. That's why, in order to avoid negative feedback, they can become defiant in their behaviour.
This book offers an accessible introduction for teachers of a child diagnosed with AS. Intended as a support tool in the initial period after diagnosis, Your Special Student is varied and engaging and addresses questions or concerns that teachers might have, such as introducing an AS student to the class; integrating the AS student; dealing with tricky situations, such as bullying; and encouraging the 'gifts' of AS. Also included are poems, stories, illustrations and activities to guide teachers in helping the child and his or her peers come to terms with, and move forward from, a diagnosis of AS.
Josie Santomauro is a full-time writer living in Brisbane, Australia. Her son, Damian, was diagnosed with AS at the age of five. She has written numerous fiction books for children and young adults, and several books on AS. She regularly gives seminars and talks on AS.
Dr Margaret-Anne Carter is a behaviour change specialist in Brisbane, Australia. She works with children, families and care and education systems in response to children's social, emotional and behavioural challenges.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=824 Your Special Student : A Book for Educators of Children Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Josie SANTOMAURO, Auteur ; Margaret-Anne CARTER, Auteur ; Carla MARINO, Illustrateur . - Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2009 . - 96 p. : ill. ; 21,6cm x 13,8cm x 1cm. - (Asperger Syndrome: After the Diagnosis) .
