Accessing the Curriculum for Pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders / Gary MESIBOV
Titre : Accessing the Curriculum for Pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders : Using the TEACCH Programme to Help Inclusion Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Gary MESIBOV, Auteur ; Rita JORDAN, Préfacier, etc. ; Marie HOWLEY, Auteur Editeur : London, [Angleterre] : Routledge Année de publication : 2003 Importance : 136 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 21cm x 30cm x 1cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-85346-795-0 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : APP-C APP-C - TEACCH Résumé : This book explains ways to open up the curriculum to pupils who have autistic spectrum disorders. The particular difficulties experienced by pupils are discussed in direct relation to specific areas of the curriculum, including: core and foundation subjects; PSHE; citizenship; and broader aspects such as break times and assemblies. Many pupils with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) have difficulties accessing the curriculum due to problems including lack of understanding of meaning, organization, sequencing and problem-solving. They require consistency and structure to enable them to make sense of concepts such as what work, how much work, what to do and what is next regardless of the curriculum subject. Division TEACCH is North Carolina's statewide programme serving people with autistic spectrum disorders and the principles behind its intervention technique, called Structured Teaching, have been widely implemented throughout the world with great success. This book shows the reader how Structured Teaching can enable pupils with ASD to access the curriculum in a meaningful way and offers many practical strategies to facilitate this process.
The book should benefit those on specialist autism courses, all providers of autism-specific training and the many teachers and teaching assistants working with autistic pupils who are asking for this guidance.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=445 Accessing the Curriculum for Pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorders : Using the TEACCH Programme to Help Inclusion [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Gary MESIBOV, Auteur ; Rita JORDAN, Préfacier, etc. ; Marie HOWLEY, Auteur . - London, [Angleterre] : Routledge, 2003 . - 136 p. : ill. ; 21cm x 30cm x 1cm.

Titre : Autism and Learning : A guide to good practice Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Stuart POWELL, Auteur ; Rita JORDAN, Auteur Editeur : London, [Angleterre] : Routledge Année de publication : 2012 Collection : Education Classic Edition Importance : 154 p. Format : 15,5cm x 23,5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-415-68749-2 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : APP-D APP-D - Interventions Educatives - Généralités Résumé : Autism is a complex and often puzzling disorder in which pinning down a set of rules surrounding the teaching of children with it is almost impossible to do. Many theories and approaches claim to have the solution to teaching, yet few provide the answers when an autistic child goes against the status quo.
Autism and Learning addresses this problem with a principled approach that is based on the understanding of the pedagogy and psychology of autism. It shows how theory can influence practice and sets out a cognitive view of the relationship between learning and autism whilst explaining how the curriculum must be constructed as to accommodate that relationship. The book also sets out principles of pedagogy and illustrates their application.
Written by practitioners experienced in teaching children with autism, the book covers examples of good practice in the most salient areas of the curriculum including:
•Developing play
•Group work
•Science
•Dance and drama
•ICT
•Assessment
•Communication
•Outdoor learning
Now with an updated preface from internationally renowned editors, this classic text should be on the bookshelves of all practitioners working with autistic children. Format : 23,4cm x 16,1cm x 2,5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-415-95644-4 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : AUT-B AUT-B - L'Autisme - Ouvrages généraux et scientifiques Résumé : Autism, a neuro-developmental disability, has received wide but often sensationalistic treatment in the popular media. A great deal of clinical and medical research has been devoted to autism, but the traditional humanities disciplines and the new field of Disability Studies have yet to explore it. This volume, the first scholarly book on autism in the humanities, brings scholars from several disciplines together with adults on the autism spectrum to investigate the diverse ways that autism has been represented in novels, poems, autobiographies, films, and clinical discourses, and to explore the connections and demarcations between autistic and "neurotypical" creativity.Using an empathetic scholarship that unites professional rigor with experiential knowledge derived from the contributors' lives with or as autistic people, the essays address such questions as: In what novel forms does autistic creativity appear, and what unusual strengths does it possess? How do autistic representations - whether by or about autistic people - revise conventional ideas of cognition, creativity, language, (dis)ability and sociability? This timely and important collection breaks new ground in literary and film criticism, aesthetics, psychology, and Disability Studies.
