Titre : All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Kathy HOOPMANN, Auteur Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2006 Importance : 72 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 21,5cm x 21,5cm x 1cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-481-0 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-A Asperger - Généralités Résumé : Moonbeam Childhood Wellness Award 2007 Bronze Medalist
Shortlisted for the 2007 Eve Pownall Award for Information Books by the Children's Book Council of Australia
'There is a great deal of truth in humour. If you have only just begun to discover why someone with Asperger's syndrome is different, this book will inform and entertain you. The descriptions provide an accurate balance between the qualities and difficulties associated with Asperger's syndrome, while the photographs will make the journey of discovery enjoyable and remarkable.'
- Tony Attwood, author of Asperger's Syndrome and The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome
'The one thing I notice most about cats, and respect them for, is their independence. It's a funny thing because this is also what I notice about my Aspie friends. In fact, I see this in my own life as well. It's a unique quality that sets us apart from most other humans. Just like cats are not like dogs. I mean we wouldn't want them to be, would we? Kathy's humorous book that highlights the unique qualities of individuals with Asperger's has us "down to a T".'
- Wendy Lawson, author of many books on the autism spectrum
All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome takes a playful look at Asperger Syndrome (AS), drawing inspiration from the feline world in a way that will strike a chord with all those who are familiar with AS.
Delightful colour photographs of cats bring to life familiar characteristics such as sensitive hearing, scampering at the first sign of being stroked, and particular eating habits.
Touching, humorous and insightful, this book evokes the difficulties and joys of raising a child who is different and leaves the reader with a sense of the dignity, individuality, and potential of people with AS.
This engaging book is an ideal, gentle introduction to the world of AS.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=222 All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Kathy HOOPMANN, Auteur . - Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2006 . - 72 p. : ill. ; 21,5cm x 21,5cm x 1cm.

Titre : Appreciating Asperger Syndrome : Looking at the Upside - with 300 Positive Points Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Brenda BOYD, Auteur ; Kenneth HALL, Préfacier, etc. Editeur : Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers Année de publication : 2009 Importance : 224 p. Format : 23,4cm x 15,6cm 1,5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-625-8 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-A Asperger - Généralités Résumé : People with Asperger Syndrome have many characteristics that are frequently seen in a negative light. Brenda Boyd shows that for every characteristic of AS that can be looked at negatively, there are several positive aspects that can be drawn on and developed. Discussing AS in general terms, she talks through the reasons why people with AS approach life in the way they do, and what an enormous contribution they make to the world. She then explores different characteristics of AS; while she acknowledges the negative perception so many people have of these characteristics, she points out the large number of advantages to the Aspergers way of thinking for individuals with AS, those around them and society as a whole. For every negative, Boyd proves there are many more positives. From their refreshing honesty to their originality and potential to become leaders rather than followers, people with AS have many admirable personality traits that should be nurtured. This book shows that by adjusting our perceptions of what is 'normal' and embracing diversity, AS can not only be understood and accepted, but appreciated.
Appreciating Asperger Syndrome is a celebration of AS which should be read by individuals with AS, family members, and anyone who knows or works professionally with individuals with AS.
Brenda Boyd is the author of Parenting a Child with Asperger Syndrome, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. She holds a degree in law from Queens University, Belfast, and previously worked as a solicitor with her own law practice. However, when Brenda's youngest child, Kenneth, was eight, he was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and since then she has become increasingly involved with autism. She lives in Northern Ireland with her husband, singer songwriter Bap Kennedy, and her son Kenneth Hall, who is the author of Asperger Syndrome, the Universe and Everything, also published by JKP.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=825 Appreciating Asperger Syndrome : Looking at the Upside - with 300 Positive Points [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Brenda BOYD, Auteur ; Kenneth HALL, Préfacier, etc. . - Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2009 . - 224 p. ; 23,4cm x 15,6cm 1,5cm.

Titre : Asperger Syndrome : A Guide for Professionals and Families Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Raymond W. DUCHARME, Directeur de publication ; Thomas P. GULLOTTA, Directeur de publication ; Jessica M. RAMOS, Collaborateur Mention d'édition : Second Edition Editeur : Berlin [Allemagne] : Springer Année de publication : 2013 Collection : Issues In Children and Families' Lives, ISSN 1572-1981 Importance : 202 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 16cm x 24 cm x 1.8 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-4614-7015-1 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Pratique basée sur les preuves Index. décimale : ASP-A Asperger - Généralités Résumé : Since the first edition was published in 2003, an enormous amount of research into Asperger Syndrome (AS) and autism spectrum disorders has been conducted. New genetic and epigenetic theories, updated findings on viable therapies, and targeted skill-building programs provide a solid foundation of information for professionals to use in practice and impart to concerned families.
The Second Edition of Asperger Syndrome synthesizes the current state of the field, beginning with the controversy over the proposed linking of the condition with autism in the DSM-5. This comprehensive guide gives readers a deeper understanding of the disorder, detailing the effective strategies and therapies available to improve the lives of young people with AS and ensure their successful transition from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. Focusing on core deficit and treatment areas, expert contributors analyze the evidence base on behavioral and pharmacological interventions as well as educational strategies geared toward bolstering cognitive and social skills.
In addition to epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, and assessment, this volume offers the most current information on:
•Counseling and other therapeutic strategies for children with AS and their families.
•Early intervention for children and youth with AS.
•Social skills instruction for children with AS.
•Evaluating evidence-based instruction for children with AS.
•Comprehensive education-based mental health services for students diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
Practical advice for families, from a parent of a child with AS.The Second Edition of Asperger Syndrome is an essential reference for researchers, clinicians, and scientist-practitioners in clinical child, school, and developmental psychology; child and adolescent psychiatry; education; rehabilitation medicine/therapy; social work; and pediatrics.
