Format : 15,5cm x 23cm x 1cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84310-648-7 Note générale : Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-G ASP-G - Asperger - Emploi Résumé : 'This is the book we need for guidance on employment for people with Asperger's syndrome. The contributors describe their employment experiences and offer sound advice. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the success stories and took note of the words of warning of what not to do.'
- Professor Tony Attwood, author of The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome
Employment is an important part of a healthy, balanced and fulfilling life but less than 20 per cent of people with Asperger Syndrome (AS) are in work at any one time. The adults with AS in this book explore the issues surrounding employment, providing advice and insights for others with AS, as well as their employers and colleagues.
Drawing on personal experience and lessons learned, Asperger Syndrome and Employment looks at:
- the transition from education to employment,
- the importance of matching skills to career choices,
- practical coping strategies for employees with AS in the workplace,
- advice for employers, including the need to make 'reasonable adjustments' to avoid discrimination,
- ways in which employment services ought to work for people with AS.
This is essential reading for adults with AS, their family and friends, employment services and career advisers, and companies needing to know how, in practical terms, to accommodate employees with AS.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=406 Asperger Syndrome and Employment [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Genevieve EDMONDS, Auteur ; Luke BEARDON, Auteur . - Londres [Angleterre] : Jessica Kingsley Publishers, 2008 . - 176 p. ; 15,5cm x 23cm x 1cm. - (Adults Speak Out about Asperger Syndrome) .

This book identifies why this is the case by asking the individuals concerned what they find difficult about working.
Looking at expectations, motivations, working conditions and other factors, Sarah Hendrickx explores the reasons why work just doesn't work for many people with Asperger Syndrome and how to resolve these issues. Featuring personal stories from those with AS, the book highlights successful scenarios and provides suggestions for both employers and those in search of work on how to improve employment for the benefit of everyone.
Asperger Syndrome and Employment provides essential information for those making the decisions and acknowledges what people with AS really want from a job so they can make employment work for them.

People with a mental framework better suited to non-social tasks can often be overlooked and underutilised in such an environment, but this book explains exactly how those with Asperger Syndrome can get their talents recognised and become successful and indispensable employees.
Following the DSM system and an easy to use format, Ashley Stanford addresses all of the issues that can arise once a person with AS secures employment, through the eyes of both employee and employer. Describing what might be expected of any employee, she offers helpful tips and workarounds not only to enable AS individuals achieve their fullest potential, but to take advantage of their strengths. In a positive and upbeat tone, she shows that with the right supports and strategies, it is possible to overcome the day-to-day challenges that trip up even the most savvy Aspie, including negotiating pay rises, employer/employee relationships, team meetings, career advancement, and choosing when to take vacation time. Drawing on her experience as CEO of a computer software company, she also suggests steps that employers and managers can take to improve the working environment for people with AS, and take advantage of their strengths to enable them to become outstanding employees.
Business for Aspies will help people with AS take steps towards achieving happy, fulfilled and above all successful working lives. It will be of key interest to the employers, managers, partners, and families of people with AS.
Ashley Stanford has worked as a technical writer for 16 years and is the CEO of a successful computer software company. She lives in Berkeley, California.

Titre : The Autism Job Club : The Neurodiverse Workforce in the New Normal of Employment Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Michael BERNICK, Auteur ; Richard HOLDEN, Auteur Editeur : New York [Etats-Unis] : Skyhorse Publishing Année de publication : 2015 Importance : 235 p. Format : 16cm x 23,5cm x 2,3cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-63220-696-1 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Neurodiversité Index. décimale : ASP-G ASP-G - Asperger - Emploi Résumé : The Autism Job Club is a groundbreaking book for bringing adults with autism and other neuro-diverse conditions into the work world.
The book has its basis in the autism job club that the authors have been part of in the San Francisco Bay Area, the job-creation and job-placement efforts the club has undertaken, and similar efforts throughout the United States.
The authors review the high unemployment rates among adults with autism and other neuro- diverse conditions more than two decades after the ADA. National data on autism employment and unemployment with the individual employment searches of job club members.
Bernick and Holden also outline and explain six strategies that, taken together, will reshape employment for adults with autism:
*The art of the autism job coach.
*The autism advantage in technology employment.
*Autism employment and the internet economy.
*Autism employment and the practical/craft economy.
*Autism and extra-governmental job networks.
*Autism and public service employment.
The Autism Job Club will be a vital resource for adults with autism, their families, and advocates who are committed to neuro-diverse employment, not unemployment. But it will also speak to a far broader audience interested in how to carve out a place for themselves or others in an increasingly competitive job world. In this book, Asperger's employment expert Barbara Bissonnette describes exactly what it takes to get hired in the neurotypical workplace.
Every aspect of finding employment is covered, from defining strengths and researching occupations, to marketing oneself and projecting confidence and enthusiasm in interviews. Job-hunters are taught how to develop a personal profile of their talents and skills, their ideal work environment, and important work criteria. They are then shown how to set realistic goals and develop an effective job search plan. There is detailed instruction on networking, including how to find contacts and what to say. A wealth of checklists, templates, sample scripts and written communications accompany the text.
Upfront, engaging and highly practical, this will be an essential guide for individuals with AS entering the workforce for the first time, as well as experienced workers who have lost jobs or wish to change careers but are uncertain about how to find the best match for their abilities. Format : 21cm x 29,7cm x 1,2cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-1-84905-036-4 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : ASP-G ASP-G - Asperger - Emploi Résumé : Supporting someone with Asperger's Syndrome (AS) can, at times, be frustrating and challenging. But a greater knowledge and understanding of the problems facing people with AS can make a huge difference to their lives.
This practical workbook was developed in consultation with carers, and can be used in groups or with individuals, concentrating on particular characteristics to learn more about the people you are supporting, or it can be used as a resource for everyday information seeking and problem solving. Atypical social behaviour and the importance of routine are explained, as well as considering relationships, emotions and mental health. Packed with exercises and case vignettes to help you to get to know the person you are supporting better, there is also a trouble-shooting section at the end of each chapter with practical solutions for tackling common problems.
Working with Adults with Asperger Syndrome - A Practical Toolkit offers an easy-to-use, person-centred approach, which will prove a valuable resource for families, friends and a wide range of professionals involved in supporting an adult with AS.
Carol Hagland worked as a chartered clinical psychologist in the NHS for over thirty years, the last ten years being in the field of learning disabilities. During that time she developed a particular interest in Asperger's syndrome, and worked with many clients and their families or carers, providing diagnoses, counselling and advice about care and support.
Zillah Webb is a consultant clinical psychologist for the Learning Disabilities Service, Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She has been working with people with learning disabilities and their carers for over 30 years.
