Titre : A review of declared factors identified by parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in making intervention decisions Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Sarah CARLON, Auteur ; Mark CARTER, Auteur ; Jennifer STEPHENSON, Auteur Année de publication : 2013 Article en page(s) : p.369-381 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Autism spectrum disorder Decision-making Intervention Parent Treatment Review Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : The range of interventions available for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has increased in recent years. This has led to an interest in the decision-making process related to intervention choices for parents of children with ASD. The present paper reviewed 16 studies examining the factors declared by parents as affecting their decision-making. Frequently nominated factors included recommendations from others, the availability, accessibility, and cost of interventions, the availability and use of other interventions, and research evidence. Few studies presented data regarding the impact of research evidence or the relative importance of factors when making decisions. Further research related to professionals' recommendations for interventions, the weight parents place on different factors, and the influence of research evidence is recommended. Titre : A Systematic Literature Review of Empirical Research on Postsecondary Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : A. H. ANDERSON, Auteur ; J. STEPHENSON, Auteur ; M. CARTER, Auteur ; Sarah CARLON, Auteur Article en page(s) : p.1531-1558 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Asd Autism spectrum disorder College Post-secondary Students University Index. décimale : PER Périodiques Résumé : The findings from a systematic literature review of 24 empirical studies of interventions for post-secondary students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are reported in this study. A diverse range of interventions were examined, many of which appeared feasible and high rates of participant satisfaction were also reported. Differing responses within and among interventions may point to the possible need for individualized supports. Few studies analyzed a specific academic support despite many students with ASD indicating they prefer these supports and that they find them useful. This may highlight the need for participant preferences to be given more consideration when designing supports. Most studies were of poor quality, however, so any conclusions are tentative. Directions for future research were discussed. En ligne : https://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10803-018-3840-2 Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=388
