Participants included 263 primary caregivers of children with DD. Children exposed to less positive parenting styles were more than two times (aOR, 2.19, 95%CI, 1.12-4.32) more likely to have unmet dental needs. Children who were male (aOR, 1.88, 95%CI, 1.04-3.41), aged < 4 years (aOR, 2.95, 95%CI, 1.2-7.27) or aged ⥠11 years (aOR, 2.65, 95%CI, 1.25-5.64), had higher illness severity (aOR, 2.04, 95%CI, 1.09-3.81), had primary caregivers with less than or equal to high school education (aOR, 2.45, 95%CI, 1.13-5.30) were also more likely to have unmet dental needs. Our aim was to use person-centered methods to identify which infants were most at risk for clinically significant behavioral problems by age 3 and diagnoses of ODD/CD by 7 years, while considering the role of family risk factors and positive parenting. A representative British community sample of 304 infants was assessed by multiple informants at mean ages of 6, 21, and 36 months of age. Latent Transition Analysis (LTA) identified three ordered subgroups at each age, with one subgroup (18%) displaying high levels of physical force as well as anger. These angry aggressive infants were at elevated risk for behavioral problems in early childhood and diagnoses of conduct disorder (CD) and/or oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) at 7 years of age. After other risk factors were taken into account, parents' beliefs in warm parenting and their observed positive affect while interacting with their infants were protective factors. These findings indicate the significance of very early manifestations of angry aggressiveness and have relevance for developmental theories of aggression and prevention strategies. The interactions between ASD symptom severity and negative parenting predicting externalizing behaviors and ASD symptom severity and negative parenting predicting internalizing behaviors were significant. Conclusions Examination of plots of the significant interactions suggested higher levels of negative parenting may exacerbate later behavioral problems and lower levels of negative parenting may protect against later behavioral problems for children with less severe ASD symptoms but not for those with more severe ASD symptoms. Results have implications for interventions targeting parenting practices for children with ASD. The research participants included 59 parents (41 females and 18 males) aged between 28 and 74Â years old (mean age 37.95). Results indicated HOS, negative parenting and autism parenting stress predicted 54.8% of the total variance in Child Internet Addiction scores of children with ASD. Autism parental stress was the most significant predictor explaining 25.3% of the total variance with time spent online explaining another 23.5% and negative parenting predicted 6%. Positive parenting was not found to be significant. The findings reinforce the importance of according greater consideration for the role of parents when working with such children.
