Titre : Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder : A Clinical Handbook Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Nicholas W. GELBAR, Directeur de publication Editeur : Oxford [Angleterre] : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2018 Importance : 337 p. ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-062482-8 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Transition Index. décimale : AUT-B AUT-B - L'Autisme - Ouvrages généraux et scientifiques Résumé : Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder: A Clinical Handbook is an edited volume that summarizes the current state of the research concerning adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This is important, as the research indicates that young adults have low rates of attendance in post-secondary education, of being competitively employed, and of living independently. Traditionally, the field of autism has focused on early screening, diagnosis, and intervention. The poor outcomes indicate that individuals with ASD experience lifelong struggles, and few other books have focused on adolescents and young adults with ASD. Experts from a multitude of disciplines serving this population have written chapters that summarize the research in their area of expertise and offer practical suggestions for clinicians, teachers, and parents. Each chapter provides a bullet-point abstract, a list of additional resources, and study questions. These features are designed to make it useful for college-level instructors. In addition, each chapter provides suggestions for future research, which are designed to move the field forward. Titre : Autism Spectrum Disorders Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : David G. AMARAL, Directeur de publication ; Geraldine DAWSON, Directeur de publication Editeur : Oxford [Angleterre] : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 1456 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 22cm x 28,5cm x 5,5cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-537182-6 Note générale : Bibliogr., Index Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : AUT-B AUT-B - L'Autisme - Ouvrages généraux et scientifiques Résumé : Autism is an emerging area of basic and clinical research, and has only recently been recognized as a major topic in biomedical research. Approximately 1 in 150 children are diagnosed as autistic, so it is also an intense growth area in behavioral and educational treatments. Financial resources have begun to be raised for more comprehensive research and an increasing number of scientists are becoming involved in autism research. In many respects, autism has become a model for conducting translational research on a psychiatric disorder. This text provides a comprehensive summary of all current knowledge related to the behavioral, experiential, and biomedical features of the autism spectrum disorders including major behavioral and cognitive syndromology, common co-morbid conditions, neuropathology, neuroimmunology, and other neurological correlates such as seizures, allergy and immunology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and epidemiology.
Edited by three leading researchers, this volume contains over 80 chapters and nine shorter commentaries by thought leaders in the field, making the book a virtual "who's who" of autism research. This carefully developed book is a comprehensive and authoritative reference for what we know in this area as well as a guidepost for the next several years in all areas of autism research.Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=139 Autism Spectrum Disorders [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / David G. Titre : Autism : A Very Short Introduction Type de document : Texte imprimé et/ou numérique Auteurs : Uta FRITH, Auteur Editeur : Oxford [Angleterre] : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2008 Collection : Very Short Introduction Importance : 144 p. Présentation : ill. Format : 11cm x 17,4cm x 1cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-920756-5 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : AUT-B AUT-B - L'Autisme - Ouvrages généraux et scientifiques Résumé : What causes autism? Is it a genetic disorder, or due to some unknown environmental hazard? Are we facing an autism epidemic? What are the main symptoms, and how does it relate to Asperger syndrome? Everyone has heard of autism, but the disorder itself is little understood. It has captured the public imagination through films and novels portraying individuals with baffling combinations of disability and extraordinary talent, and yet the reality is that it often places a heavy burden on sufferers and their families. This Very Short Introduction offers a clear statement on what is currently known about autism and Asperger syndrome. Explaining the vast array of different conditions that hide behind these two labels, and looking at symptoms from the full spectrum of autistic disorders, it explores the possible causes for the apparent rise in autism and also evaluates the links with neuroscience, psychology, brain development, genetics, and environmental causes including MMR and Thimerosal. This VSI also explores the psychology behind social impairment and savantism, and sheds light on what it is like to live inside the mind of the sufferer.
Uta Frith is Professor of Cognitive Development at University College London and Deputy Director of the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL. She is the author of many articles and books, including Autism: Explaining the Enigma; Autism and Asperger Syndrome ; and Autism in History: The Case of Hugh Blair of Borgue (with Rab Houston).Permalink : https://www.cra-rhone-alpes.org/cid/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=679 Autism : A Very Short Introduction [Texte imprimé et/ou numérique] / Uta FRITH, Auteur . - Oxford [Angleterre] : Oxford University Press, 2008 . - 144 p. : ill. ; 11cm x 17,4cm x 1cm. - (Very Short Introduction) .
