Les données de son suivi du langage oral ont été recueillies à 6, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 et 84 mois post-implant et celles de son langage écrit à 72 mois et 84 mois post-implant. L'examen cognitif a été passé à 72 mois post-implant. Ces données ont été comparées à des valeurs normatives d'enfants entendants en prenant en compte l'âge d'expérience auditive pour le langage oral et l'âge de la scolarité pour le langage écrit. Les résultats montrent que le développement de la parole et du langage oral de l'enfant progresse graduellement à tous les âges. Des déficits prosodiques et grammaticaux persistent cependant à 72 mois et 84 mois post-implant alors que le développement cognitif, l'apprentissage de la lecture et d'orthographe reste dans les variations normales du développement des enfants entendants. Cette dissociation langage oral/langage écrit, cognition et langage sera discutée pour comprendre les soécificités ou non de l'imolant cochléaire oédiatrioue avec ou sans trouble associé.
